World No. 1 in men’s golf, Scott Schauffler (USA), is on the verge of winning his third consecutive PGA Tour event.
Schauffler carded eight birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey for a 4-under-par 66 in the third round of the PGA Tour’s Texas Children’s Houston Open ($9.1 million purse) at Memorial Park Golf Course (Par 70) in Houston, Texas, USA, on Monday (July 31).
At 9-under 201, Schauffler is tied for the lead with David Skins (England), Stefan Jaeger (Germany), Alejandro Tosti (Argentina) and Thomas Detri (Belgium).
Schaeffler entered the day in contention for the title after tying for third in round one and tying for fourth in round two.
A victory would make it three in a row for Schauffler, who won the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Nov. 11 and the Players Championship on Nov. 18.

Through three rounds,

However, Schauffler bounced back with back-to-back birdies on the 16th (par-5) and 17th (par-4) to make up for it.
Dunlap, who became the first PGA Tour amateur champion in 33 years in January, is one stroke back in a tie for sixth place (8-under 202) with Taylor Moore and Akshay Bhatia (USA), who will be looking for his first win as a professional.
