The archery joke that ‘it’s much harder to qualify for the Korean national team than it is to win 스포츠토토 an Olympic or Asian Games medal’ was accurate.
At the country’s most prestigious event, the Jung Mong Goobae Korean Archery Championships, seven of the eight recurve men and women competing at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games this month failed to make the semifinals. Lee Woo-seok (Kolon) was the only survivor on the men’s side.
The Hyundai Chung Mong Kubae Korea Archery Championships 2023 concluded its third day at the War Memorial and Peace Plaza in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on Sunday.
Both the men’s and women’s semifinals have been set for the recurve and compound events.
The highly anticipated Asian Games athletes packed their bags early. On the women’s side, Ahn An (Gwangju Women’s University), Kang Chae-young (Hyundai Mobis), Lim Im-hyun (Korea Gymnastics University), and Choi Mi-sun (Gwangju Bank) all failed to advance to the semifinals.
On the men’s side, Oh Jin-hyuk (Hyundai Steel), Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall) and Kim Jeduk (Yecheon County Hall), the trio who won gold in the team event at Tokyo 2020 and will be competing in Hangzhou, failed to reach the semifinals. Kim Woo-jin is the defending champion.
Lee Woo-seok is the only archer left standing to win the title.
Although these are the world’s best archers who wear the Taeguk mark after a grueling national selection process and final trials, it showed a significant upward shift in the quality of Korean players.
Lee Woo-seok met Kim Jeduk in the quarterfinals of the day and narrowly won with a set score of 6-4 (28-28 29-30 29-28 28-28 30-26 ).
Lee was joined in the semifinals by Koo Dae-rae (Cheongju City Hall), Choi Hyun-taek (Seowon University), 토토 and Park Sun-woo (Seoul Metropolitan Government).
“I think of this competition as the Asian Games, and I will do my best to achieve a good result,” said Lee Woo-seok.
On the women’s side, Jung Da-Somi, Yoo Soo-Jung (Hyundai Department Store), Oh Ye-Jin (Gwangju Women’s University), and Lim Doo-Na (LH) advanced to the semifinals.
The semifinals and final will be held at the same venue on March 3.
New for this edition, the compound event will crown the first winner.

“We look forward to seeing the world’s top archers compete on the final day of the tournament,” 스포츠토토링크 said the Korea Archery Association.
