KCC U18’s Hong Seong-min (174cm, G), who was named the Man of the Match, said, “I was very nervous because it was my first time playing in such a big tournament. Before the tournament, Hong switched to Namyangju KCC to compete in the KBL after learning to play basketball with another team. As a high school freshman, Hong was two years younger than his older brothers in the U18 division, so he didn’t have much time to gel with his teammates, but he proved his worth and quickly integrated into the team.
“When I joined the team, I felt awkward because they were all older brothers, but they took care of me first and always cheered me on, so it was easy to integrate. I tried to fulfill the coach’s orders, and I think the coach saw that and liked it. Now that I have experienced the excitement of a big competition, I will do my best to win, and I hope to represent KCC next year and the year after.”
When Hong entered high school, he faced a time when the weight of his studies would get heavier and heavier. However, he said he couldn’t give up basketball in his life.
“Basketball is my biggest hobby and my stress reliever. I think I’ll continue to play basketball as an adult to help me cope with external challenges. I will always have a deep relationship with basketball (laughs),” he concluded the interview.
