After winning one silver and two bronze medals at the World Championships, the Korean modern pentathlon team returned home on Tuesday. The team, led by head coach Choi Eun-jong, returned via Incheon International Airport this afternoon after compting at the 2023 UIPM World Championships in Bath, England, through Aug. 28.Korea won one silver and two bronze medals at the evet. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s individual events at the Games qualified for next year’s Paris Olympics, but no South Korean athletes finished in the top three individually, so they will look to qualify at next month’s Asian Games in Hangzhou. The team will now focus on final preparations for the Asian Games, scheduled for Sept. 20-24, with plans to depart for Hangzhou on Sept. 17.In modern pentathlon, in which a single athlete competes in fencing, swimming, equestrian and laser run (shooting plus athletics), Korea will attempt to win both the men’s and women’s individual and team titles at the Asian Games.
