Son Heung-min says he “respects his decision” on Kane transfer speculation after ’47-goal’ partnership

Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min, 31, has given a blunt response to the transfer speculation surrounding his teammate and England ace Harry Kane, 30.

“Kane is a fantastic player,” Son told Football London on Thursday (July 24). He’s a top player and I respect him,” he said, adding, “There are a lot of transfer rumors now, but (I) can’t talk about the final decision. We just have to wait and see.”

Tottenham’s signature one-club man, Kane is under contract with the club until June 2024.

With a year to go until his contract expires, Kane has been repeatedly linked with a move away. In particular, Bayern Munich, where Kim Min-jae is a member, has been making serious offers.

Recent reports have suggested that Kane has rejected a deal with Tottenham and has reached a personal agreement with Bayern Munich. If Kane leaves, it’s a blow to Son Heung-min.

Son has a fantastic chemistry with Kane. They have been playing together since 2015 and have combined for 47 goals in the English Premier League (EPL) so far. That’s far more than the 36 goals the Frank Lampard-Didier Drogba duo scored together at Chelsea.

“Kane is fantastic,” Son said, “he’s always professional and hardworking. There is so much news going around at the moment, but he is the captain of Tottenham and he is with the team.”

“Kane doesn’t get rattled (by transfer rumors). I love him as a player and have total respect for him. He is one of the best strikers in the world.”

So far, it’s looking increasingly likely that Kane will leave. Kane has yet to lift a trophy with Tottenham and is reportedly hungry for more.

Bayern Munich recently made two bids for the player, which were rejected, and a third is expected.

Speaking about the ongoing transfer speculation, Son said, “I can’t talk about the final decision because I don’t know anything,” adding, “He won’t know (the future) either. We just have to wait and see. But it’s always fun to play with Kane,” he said.

For now, Kane is accompanying Tottenham on their Asian tour. After a stop in Australia, Kane was scheduled to play a friendly against Leicester City in Thailand the previous day (23), but the match was canceled due to heavy rain and poor pitch conditions.

Heung-min Son’s Tottenham will play a preseason friendly against 토토사이트 Ryan City (Singapore) on Sept. 26 in Singapore.
