’15-homer June’ Ohtani wins monthly and final weekly MVPs
After hitting 15 home runs in June, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim swept the monthly and weekly MVP awards. “We couldn’t think of anyone else but him,” the MLB office said, announcing that Ohtani had been named his third individual Player of the Month. In June, Ohtani batted 3-for-9 with four doubles, 15 home runs, and 29 RBIs. On the mound, he pitched over 30 innings, striking out 37 batters and earning two wins with a 3.26 ERA.
