Koryo and Chung-Ang University win at the same time, first time since Kyung Hee University in 2013

Chung-Ang University lost to Korea University and Yonsei University, the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the KU Basketball League. This is the first time in 11 years that KU has beaten KU and Yonsei in a single season since Kyung Hee University in 2013.

The 2024 KUSF College Basketball U-League Men’s College Division regular season has come to an end. Korea University won the championship with a 13-1 record, followed by Yonsei University with a 12-2 record. Konkuk University finished 11-3, the best record since the team’s inception.

Dongguk University tied with Chung-Ang University for fourth place with a 9-5 record, 토토 with a 1-1 head-to-head record but a +13 goal differential.

Chung-Ang University was considered a force to be reckoned with before the season began and capable of challenging the ascendancy of Korea University and Yonsei University, but losses to Kyung Hee University, Sungkyunkwan University, Konkuk University, and Hanyang University have dropped them to fifth place.

One of the reasons for the drop to fifth place is that the team was strong at home with a 6-1 record, but struggled away from home with a 3-4 record.

Chung-Ang still has one meaningful record.

Chung-Ang defeated Korea University 73-65 on May 29 and won 76-70 against Yonsei University on Oct. 4.

KU and Yonsei have lost a combined three times this season. All but one of the losses came in the head-to-head matchup between the two teams.

KU and Yonsei have been ranked first and second in the regular season most of the time since 2014. KU is usually ranked first and Yonsei second, but only in 2019 was Yonsei ranked first and KU second. This is based on home and away games.

The exception was in 2017, when KU was ranked first and Yonsei was ranked third. Chung-Ang University was the second-ranked team at the time.

Chung-Ang University, which put the brakes on the dominance of Korea University and Yonsei University, reached a new milestone this year with victories over both teams.

The last time KU and Yonsei suffered back-to-back losses to the same team was in 2013.

Kyung Hee University beat Yonsei 73-60 on March 27, 2013, and then defeated KU 86-68 on June 27, 2013.

Chung-Ang will open the quarterfinal playoffs against Dongguk University. If it wins, it will face the winner of No. 1 KU and No. 8 Sungkyunkwan University. If it advances to the finals, it could meet Yonsei again.

Having beaten both Korea University and Yonsei University, it will be interesting to see how Chung-Ang will perform in the playoffs, which start on the 28th.
