Three Korean baseball clubs announced re-signings or new acquisitions of foreign players on Sunday.The SSG Landers said they will bring back outfielder Guillermo Heredia and starter Roenis Elias for their second seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).Heredia signed for $1.5 million, which includes a signing bonus of $150,000, while Elias agreed to a $1 million deal, including a $100,000 signing bonus.The duo will join new foreign pitcher Robert Dugger, as the Landers have completed their foreign player signings for the 2024 season.
Heredia ranked fifth in the KBO with a .323 batting average, and 10th with a .846 on-base plus slugging (OPS). Heredia also won the inaugural KBO Fielding Award in left field after leading the KBO with 10 outfield assists.Elias joined the Landers in May to replace Enny Romero, and went 8-6 with a 3.70 ERA in 22 starts. Elias and Heredia were teammates on the Seattle Mariners.”On top of playing well on the field, both players showed great professionalism, and we felt they have fully adjusted to life in Korea,” the Landers said.
The Lotte Giants have also completed their foreign player lineup for 2024, after re-signing left-hander Charlie Barnes and newly signing outfielder Victor Reyes.Barnes will be back for his third season in the KBO. He went 11-10 with a 3.28 ERA in 30 추천 starts this year. He had the league’s lowest ERA after the All-Star break with 2.05. Barnes has logged 356 2/3 innings over the past two years, the second-highest total in the KBO in that span.Barnes will receive $1.2 million in guaranteed salary and can make another $150,000 in incentives.
Reyes, a switch hitter who throws right, signed for $700,000, with another $250,000 up for grabs in incentives.The Venezuelan native played for the Detroit Tigers from 2018 to 2022, and had a .264/.294/.379 line with 16 home runs and 107 RBIs in 394 games. He spent the 2023 season in Triple-A for the Chicago White Sox, and belted 20 home runs with 83 RBIs in 128 games.The Giants noted that Reyes can play all three outfield positions, thanks to his strong arm and range.
The Giants had earlier re-signed right-handed pitcher Aaron Wilkerson.Elsewhere in the KBO, the Kiwoom Heroes signed Venezuelan left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus to an $800,000 deal.De Jesus made his major league debut with the Miami Marlins this year, logging 6 1/3 innings over two relief outings. In three Triple-A seasons, he has an 8-11 record with a 4.61 ERA in 53 outings, including 36 starts.De Jesus has a four-pitch mix: a four-seam fastball, changeup, slider and sinker.The Heroes decided to bring back outfielder Ronnie Dawson last Monday, and are in talks to re-sign pitcher Ariel Jurado.
