The Korean men’s handball team defeated China and won its first match at the Asian Championships. Korea, led by coach Hollando Freitas (Portugal), defeated China 32-30 in the first match of Group B on the second day of the 21st Asian Men’s Handball Championship held in Bahrain on the 12th (local time).
Korea, which ended the first half tied 12-12, had a close game with China until the end of the second half. Young-woong Ahn (Kyung Hee University) scored with 1 minute and 45 seconds left in the game, leading 29-28, and then Yeon-bin Kim (Doosan) scored a key goal 30 seconds before the end to secure the victory .Kim Yeon-bin (7 goals) and Jang Dong-hyeon (SK) (6 goals) led the attack.
Korea was placed in Group B along with China, Iran, and New Zealand in this tournament in which 16 countries participated, and will play the second match against New Zealand on the 14th.The top four countries in this competition will advance to the 2025 World Championships. Korea has won a total of nine times at the Asian Championships, with the most recent victory being in Saudi Arabia in 2012.In the previous competition, 스포츠토토존 2022, it ranked 5th.
