‘Yang starts’ Celtic beat Motherwell 2-1 with stoppage-time winner

A dramatic goal just before half-time secured a valuable three points for Celtic after Yang Hyun-joon started and played the first half.

Celtic defeated Motherwell 2-1 away from home in the seventh round of the 2023-2024 Scottish Premiership at Fir Park in Motherwell, Scotland, on 30 September.

Yang Hyun-joon, who started as a right-wing striker in a 4-3-3 formation, played the entire first half before being replaced by James Forrest in the second half.

Yang was active in the first 45 minutes, moving between the right flank and the centre of the pitch, but was unable to register an attacking point.

Palma unleashed a powerful right-footed mid-range shot from outside the left penalty area that bounced once in front of the opposite post before being sucked into the corner of the net.

In second-half stoppage time, Motherwell levelled the scores when Blair Spittal scored a celestial equaliser with his right foot from the penalty spot in front of goal.

Just before stoppage time, when it looked like the game would end in a draw, Celtic had the last laugh.

Matt O’Reilly struck the top corner of the net with an unstoppable right-footed inside kick from the penalty area in front of goal to seal the victory.
