Baes, the shortest ATP player at ‘170 cm’, wins the Generali Open

Sebastian Vaez (No. 72-Argentina), the youngest active player on the men’s professional tennis (ATP) tour, has won the ATP Tour Generali Open.

Vázquez defeated 116th-ranked Dominik Timm (Austria) 2-0 (6-3 6-1) in the singles final of the tournament on Sunday (July 7) in Kitzbühel, Austria.

At 5-foot-10, Baes is the shortest active player on the ATP Tour, along with Yoshihito Nishioka (No. 31-Japan) and Diego Schwartzman (No. 95-Argentina).

This is the second ATP Tour title for Baez this season after winning the Cordoba Open in February. It is his third career title.

In the previous day’s semifinal, Vázquez defeated 6-foot-3 Tomas Martin Echeverría (No. 34-Argentina) 2-1 (7-6<7-5> 3-6 6-4). His final opponent stands at 6-foot-5.

Baez jumped to 한국야동 No. 42 in the world rankings.
