New SSG Rangers head coach Lee Sung-yong has revealed his ambition to focus on generational change through performance and the development of young players.
SSG held the inauguration ceremony for its ninth head coach, Lee Sung-yong, at Holiday Inn Songdo in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, on Nov. 21.
Lee will be the ninth head coach in the combined history of Eskay and ESG, as ESG inherited the history of Eskay when it acquired the SK Wyverns in 2021.
ESG, which fired head coach Kim Won-hyung after the semifinals of the 2023 season, signed Lee on July 17 for a total of 900 million won, including a 300 million won signing bonus and a 300 million won annual salary for two years.

After receiving a jersey with the number ’71’ from ESG CEO Min Kyung-sam, Lee said, “Every baseball player dreams of becoming a manager.
I’m grateful to the ESL for making my dream come true,” he said.
After spending two years as a commentator following his retirement, Lee began his coaching career as KT’s hitting coach in 2014.
He worked for KT for 10 years as a coach, manager, and head of development, helping the organization win its first overall title in 2021. 호텔카지노
“I’ve seen a lot of baseball as a player, commentator, coach, and front office,” says Lee.
At ESG, I will look at the team with a wide view, communicate with internal people, and pursue changes.”
When I became Esuji’s coach, I felt like I found my roots,” he said.
Lee, who began his professional career in 1994 with the Incheon-based Pacific Dolphins, played for the Hyundai Unicorns and Nexen Heroes before retiring in 2011.
