GS Caltex recruits outside heater Kim Joo-hyang

GS Caltex, a professional volleyball women’s team, recruited free agent (FA) outside hitter Kim Joo-hyang (25).

GS Caltex said on the 17th, “We signed a three-year contract with Kim Joo-hyang worth up to 720 million won,” adding, “Kim Joo-hyang will receive a total of 220 million won in the 2024-2025 season (annual salary of 150 million won, option 70 million won), 2025-2026 season and 2026. -For the two 2027 seasons, he will receive a total of 250 million won each (annual salary of 150 million won and option of 100 million won).”

GS Caltex, which was short of wing spiker resources due to Kang So-hwi’s transfer to the Korea Expressway Corporation, chose free agent Kim Joo-hyang as an alternative.

GS Caltex said, “Kim Joo-hyang, who is 180cm tall, is a resource with both offensive and defensive power and is evaluated as having excellent offensive power,” and added, “We expect to inject new vitality into the team’s attack.”

Kim Joo-hyang, who graduated from Gwangju Weight and Gwangju Physical Education High School, began his professional career by joining Hyundai Engineering & Construction as the 3rd overall pick in the first round of the 2017-2018 season.

Kim Joo-hyang, who wore the uniform of IBK Industrial Bank of Korea as a compensation player for FA Go Ye-rim ahead of the 2019-2020 season, transferred to Hyundai Engineering & Construction again as a compensation player for FA Hwang Min-kyung ahead of the 2023-2024 season.

GS Caltex is his third team.

Kim Joo-hyang said, “I have decided to take on a new challenge with a new team. I want to quickly adapt to the team and grow. I will do my best to be helpful to the team.”
